Psychiatry and Mental Health
The Department of Psychiatry has maintained the tradition of active contribution in service, training, and research activities of the Institute.
Clinical services have catered to the needs of patients across the country through regular out-patient, in-patient, and various special clinics for de-addiction, geriatric psychiatry, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, community psychiatry, family psychiatry, perinatal mental health disorders, and metabolic disorders.
The facilities for In-patient clinical services in the department have improved with perinatal, emergency psychiatry services.
Well-equipped High-Dependency Unit (HDU) for patients with violence/deliberate self-harm/catatonia/medical comorbidities.
The faculty has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals. They have actively collaborated with various other related disciplines of mental health and neurosciences within and outside the Institute.
